April 2012 Playlist

1. Heartbroken, In Disrepair - Dan Auerbach — OMG. I am obsessed. I think I just discovered this song like four days ago? It’s on a constant loop on my iPod and laptop. Too bad I have to work tomorrow, or else I would keep on playing it.

2. Walk on By - Isaac Hayes — I heard it whilst watching the Black Keys thing on CBS. Super good. Full of so much soul, blues, and rock&roll…unheard of nowadays.

3. Honey Bunny - Girls — I like the beach boys influence in this song.

4. Cruel - St. Vincent — After watching her live at Coachella, I was like omg…why am I not listening to this more? Kind of ethereal yet hardcore. Don’t know how else to describe it without sounding contradictory. But this song is full of unexpected contradictions that make it amazing.

5. Black Rainbow - St. Vincent — I like the flutes in this song…and the unexpected guitar solo towards the end. Nice.

6. Tongue Tied - Grouplove — Another band I saw at Coachella. This song will be my summer anthem. So fun to listen to!

7. Chop and Change (iTunes session version) - The Black Keys — Kind of obsessed with anything Black Keys.

8. Disparate Youth - Santigold — I love the heavy bass and the vocals of course.

9. Nothing Ever Happened - Deerhunter — I heard this somewhere…forgot where. But I’ve been hooked ever since.

10. Goodbye, Horses - Q Lazzarus & Garvey — Heard it in silence of the lambs first. Always wondered what the name of the song was. Finally got around to google-ing it.

1. Revival - Deerhunter — So I totally just got into Deerhunter because of my brother. I’m such a copy cat. Whatever.

2. Desire Lines - Deerhunter — (See sentence above.)

3. Sweetest Kill - Broken Social Scene — I was watching “It’s Kind of a Funny Story” and they had a Broken Social Scene song in there. Not specifically this one. But it made me look up BSS in Spotify. And what do you know…they have a new album. This song is my favorite out of all of them though.

4. Blood - The Middle East — AMAZING. Heard it on “It’s Kind of a Funny Story.” That movie has an amazing soundtrack.

5. Shake Me Down - Cage The Elephant — I love singing along to this song in my car. Usually when I’m not stopped at a red light. I don’t want to be stared at…

6. Falling In Love in a Coffee Shop - Landon Pigg — Heard this song while taking my break at Starbucks. I soundhounded it to figure out the name of the song. I’ve been listening to it over and over again. The hopeless romantic in me will never cease to exist…

July 2011 Playlist

1. Young Blood - The Naked and Famous — I heard this for the first time like in June but didn’t really pay attention to it. It was getting lots of hype by the KROQ dj, so I was like whatever. But once I finally listened to it in its entirety, I was hooked. Very unique…not like what is currently out there. I love listening to this very very loudly on my way to work, it pumps me up.

2. Something Good Can Work - Two Door Cinema Club — I came across this band while going through the alternative section on iTunes. They’re so upbeat and fun…plus really repetitive. I love repetitiveness in my music…I’m weird. But I totally love them and I love listening to them in the shower and dancing like a freak. :P

3. Eat That Up, It’s Good For You - Two Door Cinema Club — “Well, you would look a little better if you wore a little less makeup,” I love that line. LOVE LOVE LOVE. Any guy who likes girls who don’t wear much makeup deserves a special place in my heart. <3

4. Panic - Sublime with Rome — I love Sublime. Especially during the summer. They kind of just have the free/lazy summer vibe. I love the lyrics in this song too. They’ve truly matured since their “Smoke Two Joints” single. haha.

5. Excuses - The Morning Benders — So lovely. Why didn’t I discover this gem sooner? It’s a throwback to the 50’s or something…mega awesome.

6. Ghosts - The Head and the Heart -- Stumbled upon this band while perusing the alternative section on iTunes too. Saw that they got some awesome reviews and bought the album. I’m glad I did because I listen to this songs so many times that I’m pretty sure I’ve gotten my moneys worth already. :)

7. Walk - Foo Fighters — One of my favorite songs to run to. Such a motivator. I should make this my power song. :P

8. Rope - Foo Fighters — Another favorite song to run to.

9. Bodies - Savoir Adore -- Such a great song to bop your head to/dance to.

10. Norway - Beach House — Love her voice. So powerful.

June 2011 Playlist

1. Can’t Tell Me Nothing - Kanye West — “I had a dream I could buy my way to heaven, when I woke up I spent that on a necklace. I told God I’d be back in a second. Man, it’s so hard not to act reckless.” I LOVE LOVE LOVE this song. Especially while I’m running. Kanye makes so much sense.

2. Risa - Babasonicos — “Me gusta verte reir. Me gusta tanto tu coqueteo.” If I translated this from Spanish to English, it would sound mega dumb. So I won’t. It’s just a fun flirty song that I wish someone would sing to me. :)

3. Come Te Extrano - Cafe Tacvba — “Hay amor divino, pronto tienes que volver. El dolor es fuerte lo soporto, porque vivo pensando en tu amor. Quiero verte, tenerte, y besarte. Entregarte todo mi corazon.” LOVELY, listening to it just makes me smile.

4. The Greatest - Cat Power — “And then came the rush of the flood. Stars aligned, turned you into dust. Melt me down into big black armor.” The song doesn’t really make sense but I still love it. I love listening to Cat Power’s voice. It’s amazing.

5. All I Need - Radiohead — “I am a moth, who just wants to share your light. I’m just an insect, trying to get out of the night. I only stick with with you because there are no others. You are all I need. You’re all I need.” I love this song. I think it might be one of my favorite Radiohead songs. I love the video that goes along with it. The “In the Basement” sessions. OMG. I love Thom Yorke in those videos. <3

6. All These Things That I’ve Done - The Killers — “I need direction to perfection. No, no, no, no, no.” I think I had my computer on shuffle and this song came up. I love songs that remind me of my high school days, this is most definitely one of those songs.

7. Closer - Kings of Leon — I just love listening to the lead singer’s voice. So hot.

8. There Is A Light That Never Goes Out - The Smiths — “And if a double decker bus crashes into us, to die by your side is such a heavenly way to die. And if a ten ton truck kills the both of us, to die by your side, well the pleasure the privilege is all mine.” Reminds me of 500 Days of Summer. LOVES it.

9. Ways & Means - Snow Patrol — “I’ve been waiting here my whole damn life and I’ve forgotten what I want.” This song reminds me of my very first day at UCSD. It was admit day and it was playing through the loud speakers at price center. I knew I would like it there when I heard this obscure song I had been obsessing over through the speakers.

10. Summer Love - Justin Timberlake — “I can’t wait to fall in love with you. You can’t wait to fall in love with me. This can’t just be summer love, you’ll see.” JT is awesome. Enough said.
