1. Running is super fun when there are a bunch of other runners around.

2. In a month I’ll be back in school and I’m excited yet kind of intimidated and overwhelmed by it all.

3. I’m finding a lot of good music lately…Two Door Cinema Club, The Morning Benders, The Naked and Famous, The Head and The Heart. Pretty awesome. For several months, I had just about given up on new music.

4. Chipotle peppers make everything taste better.

5. In less than a month, my preschoolers will be off to kindergarten. I’m super attached to my kids and I’m seriously sad about seeing them leave. I wish I could have had some more time with them. But alas, everyone has to grow up eventually, right? :(

1. I am in love with Beach House all over again. “Teen Dream” is such an amazing album. Every song is unique and amazing in itself yet listening to the whole album makes each song so much more special and interesting. “Norway” is one of my favorites! I love everything about that song.

2. I’ve realized I am so lucky because I have such an amazing job that I love so much. Sometimes I’m afraid to admit it because I’m afraid I will jinx it all. I hold onto my happiness and brush it off like it’s nothing. But it is something! It’s time to appreciate it all because it’s something that I’m really grateful for. I am so so so happy about where I am and what I’ve learned and I am eternally grateful to all of the people at the school who’ve taken a chance on me.

3. I need to work on my serious face. My default reaction to everything is smiling and laughing at stuff. Sometimes I even smile at laugh at the most inappropriate/awkward moments…making those moments 10x exponentially worse. The kids are starting to ask me, “Why are you smiling?” when I tell them to stop or when I reprimand them for doing something wrong. So yeah…I need to work on that.

4. I seriously love Aveeno body wash. It’s the one thing I look forward to smelling first thing in the morning. The fig one and the lavender are my favorites. I’m obsessed.

5. I like taking Toby on runs. He is super cute and hot shirtless guys smile at him and at me when we are running. :)

-2 more days until NY! UMMMMMMMMMMMM. HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLL YEAHHHHHHHH!

-My sore throat/cough thing has gotten exponentially worse. I sound like an old person when I cough. Like that wheezy/borderline bronchitis kind of cough —- yeah, that’s me right now. So gross. Today was my last day of being on the Z-Pack. Hopefully I feel better by tomorrow.

-I’m obsessed with Pinback at the moment. It reminds me of S.D. so much. I miss S.D. I miss my old apartment. I miss riding the UCSD Nobel Shuttle. I miss walking across campus with my headphones on. I miss Geisel. I miss the gym at my old apartment. I miss the concerts. I miss my friends. I miss being free and having basically no responsibilities (except for school).

-Slowly but surely I’m figuring out how to keep my sanity at work. Rolling with the punches and being optimistic are at the top of the list, for sure. Sometimes I get so wound up about being the “perfect teacher” that I kind of get paralyzed by the shock of something going awry. I am used to having everything planned out and the truth of the matter is that in the real world having everything planned out isn’t always helpful. In order to be truly successful, you just have to think on your feet and deal with different situations as they arise. A lesson I have learned the hard way.

My throat is mega sore…it hurts when I talk.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE “This is Where I Leave You” by Jonathan Tropper! It’s amazing. It’s totally inappropriate, dark, and full of cynicism. It’s also the most hilarious book I’ve ever read…I’ve never laughed so much by simply just reading a book. I highly recommend it.

“Drain the Blood” by the Distillers is on repeat in my car.

I’m so psyched for my mini vacation!!

I have some kind of weird sore throat thing going on.

I have discovered that the concept of “popularity” or “popular peers” begins at a very early age. It’s quite intriguing to watch.

I dislike whining…a lot.

I like random moments…like when I step into a Target and see one of my students who then starts yelling out my name.

I am infatuated with Wiz Khalifa…I think it’s a bad boy thing.

I really want internet on my phone.

People tend to give you weird looks when you eat cup of noodles at a Starbucks.
